Bursaries
The Kim Wry Bursary was developed to honour the memory of Kim Wry, the Charter President of our Zonta Club of Amherst Area. This bursary was intended to be utilized by a woman who qualified as a mature student and was enrolled in a post secondary program in a recognized institution.
The amount for our second bursary in 2010 has been increased from $500 to $1000 due to our successful fundraising efforts. The second bursary will be awarded in September 2010.
As a fundraiser for the bursary, a Natural Products Raffle Basket is raffled by our club. All members of the club contribute items to the basket and sell raffle tickets. The draw for the basket is made at the Tantramar Theatre during the Zonta BaZaar which is part of the Fibre Arts Festival held in October. The unique natural products theme of the basket has contributed to its success as a fundraiser. In 2009, this basket generated $1,270 in revenue towards the Kim Wry Bursary.
