What is Zonta?
Zonta International is a worldwide organization of executives in business and the professions working together to advance the status of women.
What does Our Local Club Do?
Established in 1980, the Zonta Club of Chelsea has a strong relationship with groups involving women and children, as well as a very long association with the Whidden Hospital Hospice program. During the past twenty-two years the Chelsea Zonta Club has donated to all of our area schools, the Chelsea Police Department, Harbor Me, the Chelsea Community Kitchen, Area libraries, the Carey House, Salvation Army, Project Bread, the Women's Free Lunch Program, the Jimmy Fund, the Children's AIDS Program, Friends Fighting Breast Cancer, and many other worthwhile organizations. We provide holiday food certificates for needy families, and give scholarships to graduating seniors in Chelsea, Everett, Revere, and Winthrop High Schools.
Our fund raising projects have included silent auctions, Woman of the Year Award Dinners, and the annual Zonta Fashion Show. This popular event is supported by local businesses through advertisements, and by the donations of the numerous guests in attendance. Our Fashion Shows always send the message that all women can look and feel beautiful regardless of their age or size.
