Instructions for Creating/Updating Your Club's Web Page |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Instructions - Option 2 (Fairly easy)With this option, you will use Netscape Composer to edit your current Club Web Page (just a template to begin with), and save the changes on your computer. Then simply e-mail the file to the District 1 Webmaster for posting. Note that you can use this method to update your web page at any time. Make sure you are using Netscape Navigator as your Internet browser. If you are using a different browser, please start over using Netscape. NOTE: You may want to print these instructions so you can follow along. The screen snapshots were created using Netscape Communicator version 4.7 on a Windows PC, but you should be able to use any version of Netscape on a Windows PC or a Mac -- you may need to hunt for the location of any commands. Step 1: Find your Club's web page by clicking on the appropriate link on our District 1 Clubs Page: http://zontadistrict1.org/d1clubs.html.
Step 3: Open the page you just saved in Netscape Composer
Step 4: You will see something like this:
You should see the text that you had seen when you opened the page in your browser, but with dashed lines and no logo. (If you don't see the dashed lines, check to see if you have opened the page in Netscape Navigator instead of Composer.) Step 5: Edit the document as you would any word processing document. You can highlight text using <shift> plus the arrow keys, or dragging with the mouse. You can delete text with <Backspace> or <Delete>, and add text where the cursor is flashing by simply typing. You can change the formatting, adding bold or italics, if you wish. Be sure to look through the entire document for places to edit. Specifically, look for anything in square brackets (e.g. "[name]") -- this is where I'd like you to fill in information specific to your Club. Add links as follows: Step 5A - "Up-to-Date Club News" is intended to be a link to another web site under your control (such as masslive.com for Massachusetts Clubs), which you plan to update frequently with your Club's news. If you don't have such a site, just delete the words. "Up-to-Date Club News". If you do have such a web site, add the link by highlighting the words, clicking on the "Link" button, and typing in the link address in http: format:
Step 5B:
Step 6: Save your document ("File", "Save" from the menu), and close Netscape Composer. Step 7: Send the file, index.html, that you just updated to Webmaster@zontadistrict1.org as an e-mail attachment. I will post it as soon as I am able, and will update the link from the "Clubs" section of the District Web Site, and send e-mail to the Zonta International Webmaster asking that she do the same from the Zonta International Web Site, www.zonta.org. If you have any problems, or these instructions aren't clear, please e-mail me, and I'll get back to you as soon as possible. Good luck! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
