Greetings Fellow District 1 Zontians from the District 1 YWPA Chairman

Many of you have begun your club’s Young Women in Public Affairs Scholarship program, and for other clubs, I hope you will consider getting involved this year!  This international award honors young women aged 16-19 who are committed to leadership in public affairs:  policy, government and volunteer service.  Clubs select an awardee in their areas, and the individual club winners compete for a $1,000 District Award.  The District awardees are then in contention for ten $4,000 awards.  Our district has had great success in putting forward candidates who have won at the international level – including last year’s winner from the Zonta Club of Halifax!!

Click here for a link to all of the information on the ZI website.  You will find not only the application, but judging guidelines, sample posters, press releases and certificates. Clubs participating in the program must choose the club winner and forward it to me for consideration for the District Award by April 1st. Complete applications must be received by April 1st in order to be considered for the district and international awards.

Lastly, if you or anyone in your club is interested in serving on the District committee, please let me know.  We’ll be reviewing and rating the club winners in the month of April, and we need a few sets of eyes.

Please contact me if you have any questions or if I can help in any way – Thank you!
