The Value of Membership

Since Zonta was established in 1919, many members have joined us and are contributing actively to our objectives. Today, we are a leading global organization of more than 30,000 members in a diversity of professions in 67 countries worldwide. The main objectives for Zonta are to achieve gender equality and empowerment of women. We believe that a better world can only be a reality when women have access to all resources, and are represented in decision making positions on an equal basis with men, when every woman is able to achieve her full potential. In Zonta, we empower women worldwide through service and advocacy while we develop ourselves.

The 61st Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW61) will take place in New York, NY from March 13 – 24, 2017
The priority theme is “Women’s economic empowerment in the changing world of work” and the review theme is “Challenges and achievements in the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals for women and girls.”
At this time, headquarters is still coordinating Zonta’s official plans for events during CSW61; however, we would like to know who is interested in joining Zonta International at the CSW in 2017.
Any Zontian can attend the CSW Hearings, but you need to be willing to be there for the training (typically the Sunday before the sessions that ZI is participating) and stay for the week. If you can’t be there for the week, you can also sign up for the “parallel sessions” which are also very interesting, educational and inspiring, being organized by many NGOs who focus on women’s issues around the globe.
If you are interested please contact our District UN Chair, Lynn Goodhue at LGoodhue@Comcast.net.
