District I Clubs

The Zonta Collect

Keep us, O God from pettiness; Let us be large in thought, in word, in deed. Let us be done with fault-finding and leave off self-seeking. May we put away all pretence and meet one another face to face without self pity and without prejudice. May we never be hasty in judgement, and always generous.Let us take time for all things, make us grow calm, serene, gentle.Teach us to put into action our better impulses, straightforward and unafraid. Grant that we may realize that it is the little things that create differences and that in the big things of life, we are at one. And may we strive to touch and to know that great common woman's heart of us all, and O Lord God, let us not forget to be kind!

Mission: Zonta International is a leading global organization of professionals empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy.
Vision: Zonta International envisions a world in which women’s rights are recognized as human rights and every woman is able to achieve her full potential. In such a world, women have access to all resources and are represented in decision-making positions on an equal basis with men. In such a world, no woman lives in fear of violence.
Theme: Empowering Women through Service and Advocacy

District 1 encompasses an area of the New England states of the U.S. and Nova Scotia, Canada and was created in 1927. As a part of a global organization chartered to advance the status of women worldwide through service and advocacy, we currently have 18 active, local clubs throughout our area. Made up of executives and professionals, we meet at the local, district and international levels to adopt service projects and programs that further the objects of Zonta International.

While most of the hands-on service is performed locally, we advocate for and fundraise for larger projects in the international arena. By banding together with a total of approximately 1,200 clubs in 67 nations and geographic areas, we are able to accomplish worthwhile work and advance the status of women around the world.

We also offer academic awards and scholarships which help prepare many women for an improved quality of life which benefits them and their families, and in turn their communities.

I encourage you to explore our website and see if there is a club in your local area that you could either become a member of or support the work of. We are always looking for new members to strengthen our organization and expand the reach of our work. We also endeavor to start additional clubs within our geographic area to further our organization’s mission.
